I believe so. But I'm not a Jeep connoisseur, so someone else might chime in if otherwise.

Trailhawk is the name of the more off-road built slant eyed Jeep (I still refuse to call it a Cherokee). They still use the trail rated for the Wrangler, becasue, well, they are all trail worthy, and no one wants to copy BMW's long-ass-name-scheme; Yes, I have a "Jeep Wrangler Unlimited TrailHawk Rubicon X"

Yes the trailhawk is. It has locking diffs and some other goodies. Its also lifted and has bigger tires than the regular Cherokee

From Car and Driver - "It earns its Trail Rated badge by lofting the shared architecture an inch farther from the dirt, tucking it behind skid plates and fitting a locking rear differential, knobby Firestone Destination A/T tires, and unique front and rear fascias that up its off-road-critical approach, departure, and break-over angles to 29.9, 32.2, and 22.9 degrees. Those are increases of 8.9, 4.9, and 1.2 from the regular Cherokee's. Should you get in over your elevated head, the Trailhawk's three tow hooks—two up front, one in back, all bright red regardless of exterior color choice—give the rescue party something easy to snatch without bending any suspension components."
So it's basically an uprated version, more tailored for real off-roading.

My dad has a Volt exactly like that, except with a "nuclear" magnet- we get all our power from a nukie plant, so the Volt is, for 40 miles anyways, a nuclear-powered car- and another "electric" magnet. I say it's rubbish and makes him look like some simpering environmentalist, but he says people stop him all the time and ask if it's electric.
I really must post a full review of the Nuclear Car one day...

Trailhawk is a trim level, Trail Rated is a badge proclaiming that the Jeep model in question has passed various off-roading "tests." I can't remember if you can get a Trail Rated Cherokee that isn't a Trailhawk, but yeah, the two of them are different things.
We can't get enough Trailhawks in stock, we sell them as fast as we can get them. Apparently they're fantastic for getting groceries and taking the kids to soccer practice if you ask the people around here who are buying them.

It's just a marketing gimmick for people to like the Cherokee. The Liberty never sold well and this is its replacement, harkening back to the days of yore when the Cherokee was actually a capable off-roader. Well Jeep has actually done a fine job of outfitting the Trailhawk with all the necessary off-road bits to make it truly Trail-Rated. As good as a Wrangler? Never. The best off-roader you can buy under $35k? Definitely.

the Liberty sold like crazy here. We had a 1st gen bubbly one for a couple years, they can be turned into cool offroaders, people just rarely put the effort into them.

I talked to a guy last night who bought an Elky years ago and was offered a 2:70 rear to go with it - it having a 4.something installed. He passed on it, and shortly was kicking himself for it when gas prices started going up.

That's pretty clever.. until someone thinks it's *actually* nuclear powered directly and go off on a tangent about how's he's driving a bomb. Enjoyable to have fun at the expense of stupid people.

Geez with 2.70 he should have been able to do some wheelies!

Yeah, anything lower than about a 3:53 on a coupe utility is kookoobananas. The 2:70 would have made it drivable around town, the 4:__ was I imagine just a giant "fuck you, tires!"
